Catcus Flower

This photo was taken by a friend on our motorcycle trip to Southern Utah. I think the lighting and the colors are just perfect, and I love the contrast between the sharp cactus thorns and the delicate pink flower.

Life is full of contrast.

A wonderful example of what can grow in arid earth filled with broken rocks. Like life itself.

Hey Cat

I am still loving this pink cactus flower and marveling over how it must have been to see it out there in the middle of nowhere....

That tag on my blog for the aqua / brown swap always reminds me of you.

I know you are saying WHAAAT ???

YOu will find out why soon.

Love, S.

Hi Cat, is this a prickly pear cactus? We have a cactus In Central Texas like it but with yellow blooms. Wish ours were pink! The bloom really stands out.

Yes, it's a Prickly Pear Cactus, the colors can be yellow to rose to deep red. I'm sure I've seen orange before too.
